A- A+A passionate participant in sailing events, German manufacturer Audi announced today it has signed an agreement to sponsor the Kieler Woche program for an additional three years. The first involvement of Audi with the event took place earlier this year. The announcement of the new agreement was made at the Kiel Yacht Club in the presence of surfing aces Moana Delle and Toni Wilhelm, Paralympics winner Heiko Kroger, European Matchrace Champions Silke Hahlbrock, Kerstin Schult and Maren Hahlbrock. The financial details of the agreement were not announced.As the new sponsor, Audi will hand over vehicles to the sailors of Audi Sailing Team Germany and will provide sporting promotion of young German sailing talent. So far, 30 Audi vehicles have been delivered to the Sailing Team Germany. “It is a big and exciting challenge to start building something new together with the national team,” said Bastian Kaltofen, Audi head of Trade Fairs, Events and Sport Marketing. “Even the first joint months were successful. Now we are happy to be able to make another contribution to optimal practice and competition activities with our automobiles.” The cars already delivered include 11 Audi A6 allroad, 14 Audi Q7 and 5 VW buses. 5 of the vehicles are personal cars for the top sailors as well as pool vehicles for traveling to regattas and practice events. “The perfect premiere makes us hungry for more. With its high-class sporting competitions on water and the enthusiastic spectators on the shore Kieler Woche provides an ideal stage for Audi,” added Kaltofen.
