13.1-miles of racing and tasting to bring nearly 2,000 runners to Solvang on Saturday, May 11SANTA BARBARA - April 22, 2019 - Chumash Casino Resort, a one-of-a-kind entertainment destination in Greater Santa Barbara, and the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon today announced a new community partnership for the 2019 event. Nearly 2,000 runners will experience the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley as the 13th annual Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon will take over the streets of downtown Solvang on Saturday, May 11, 2019."We are delighted to expand our community sponsorship program with the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon, one of our region�s biggest sporting events attracting runners from across the country," said Bill Peters, General Manager. Runners will begin their 13.1-mile journey amidst the windmills and Danish bakeries in downtown Solvang, run along the rolling hills, vineyards and 12 wineries before finishing on Copenhagen Drive in the heart of historic Solvang. After crossing the finish line, participants are invited to join family and friends to kick back, relax, sip and savor wines from 20 wineries at the post-race Wine & Music Festival in Solvang Park. Runners can also choose the two-person half-marathon relay option for a shorter run with all of the wine tasting fun. Race weekend kicks off Friday, May 10 with a free fitness expo in downtown Solvang open to the public. The Expo, where all participants must pick up their bib number and race packet, will be held at Solvang Park from 1:00pm to 7:00pm.
