Delta says it didn’t re-up its sponsorship of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons this year, and instead has set its sights on becoming “becoming the official airline of New York baseball,” Reuters reports. Spokesman Kent Landers said the world’s largest air carrier was “becoming the official airline of New York baseball” with title sponsorships of both the New York Mets and the New York Yankees.“Those teams have new stadiums and we’re sponsoring signature space in both,” Landers said. In addition, he said Delta is adding the Yankees as an official airline partner.In its headquarters city of Atlanta, Delta will remain the official airline of Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves, but informed the Falcons before the 2008 season that it would not renew its sponsorship contract for 2009, he added.Landers said Delta does not disclose the terms of its sponsorship agreements.
