Since 2010 the Stena Sphere has acted title sponsor in one of Sweden’s largest annual sailing events. The Match Cup Sweden was started in 1994 and is held every year in July on the island of Marstrand off west coast Sweden, drawing competing teams from all over the world. “It was an historic event in the summer of 2010 when all companies in the Sphere got together and jointly sponsored Stena Match Cup Sweden. I was very happy to see that it was made quite clear to all the companies in the Sphere that the outcome becomes much greater if we work together. Our goal is to further strengthen relations between our employees, customers and partners and we see Stena Match Cup Sweden as an excellent platform for this,” said Dan Sten Olsson, CEO of the Stena AB. Stena Match Cup Sweden is one of the largest public events in Sweden when it comes to sail races, attracting more than 100,000 spectators.
