USA TODAY Sports Media Group is seeking a Director of Sports Marketing to work within our Leagues and Properties division. The position reports to the VP, Sports Marketing and is located at USA TODAY headquarters in New York. The role may involve odd hours, including nights and weekends. Responsibilities: Responsible for the construction and project management of the USA TODAY Ad Meter, Fan Index and other key properties or programs within USA TODAY Sports including; renewing and expanding existing relationships, developing new partnerships, and driving revenue to the Leagues & Properties team. Budget planning and management, creating status reports and delivering long-term agendas for the team. Work closely with SMG verticals (Sales, Digital and Editorial) to ensure seamless execution and optimal revenue. Effectively communicate and facilitate USA TODAY Sports brand strength and credibility in the marketplace. Work closely and respond fluidly within a fast passed environment that includes multiple internal and external touch points. Must have proven success for creating comprehensive programs from ideation to completion.
College degree with a concentration in marketing/advertising a plus. 3+ years experience supporting sports properties, account planning, management and strategy — specifically in digital and social media. Strategic and creative thinker who can build opportunities that optimize USA TODAY Sports assets. Strong leadership, presentation and communications skills are a must. Team player who can work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment where client satisfaction is critical. Ability to manage budgets. Demonstrates solid business ethics and integrity. Basic computer skills (PC/AS400/Excel/Word), writing skills, email etiquette and telephone communication, Be awesome.
