POSITION SUMMARY The Mayor’s Office of the City of Atlanta is looking for an experienced marketing professional to lead business development and marketing partnerships for the City. Reporting to the COO, the Director will be responsible for launching and running a centralized revenue-generating partnership program, working with internal stakeholders and potential external partners to identify and develop triple-bottom-line revenue strategies that leverage City assets and external opportunities to develop new, non-tax, non-fee revenue streams that benefit the City and enhance public spaces and services in Atlanta—while also providing value to the partner. The ideal candidate will have senior experience leading business development and marketing efforts spanning traditional and new advertising, digital media, experiential marketing, brand management, and knowledge of emerging industry practices, as well as experience with contract negotiation and management. RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee and manage business development and marketing partnerships to generate new revenue streams to support the City’s General Fund • Act as a single point of contact for companies interested in engaging with the City through revenue sharing, sponsorship, or naming rights agreements • Initiate, implement, and manage the creation of marketing plans, working with City operating departments to package City assets in a way that is attractive to commercial partners or sponsors • Identify emerging market trends/opportunities and position the City to take advantage where advantageous and appropriate • Proactively seek out new triple bottom line partnerships—initiatives that benefit the City, its citizens, and private partners • Work with leaders across City government to prioritize potential new marketing and revenue initiatives by feasibility, revenue potential, and non-monetary impacts • Develop a centralized approach to managing sponsorship and partnership relationships for physical assets, programs, and special events • Convene and facilitate a public-private advisory group charged with developing guiding principles for the program, advising on prioritization of initiatives, ensuring design oversight, and providing strategic direction • Manage and lead procurement and outreach efforts to solicit proposals from corporate partners • Oversee and manage contract negotiations and enforcement with an eye toward balancing competing interests to achieve triple bottom line objectives • Oversee and manage multiple initiatives, including leading cross-departmental implementation and permitting processes • Communicate goals and objectives of program and initiatives to stakeholders, including Atlanta City Council, neighborhood and business groups, department leaders, and the general public • Other duties as assigned


Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS • 8-10 years senior-level marketing and/or fundraising experience preferred • Experience negotiating and managing contracts • Ability to lead complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing interests • Ability to engage diverse stakeholders in developing a shared strategic vision • Ability to develop/oversee operational implementation plans involving multiple partners • Track record of establishing targets and delivering results within a defined time period • Outstanding time management and organization skills • High level of confidentiality and professionalism • Business development experience in a complex environment/industry • Non-traditional and traditional marketing experience • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Familiarity with and passion for Atlanta EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • An MBA is preferred, but may possibly be substituted with related work experience • Bachelor’s degree is required
