The Director, Events is responsible for the strategic direction, development, and management of events, event promotions, event programs and overall event marketing strategies at both territorial and national level to drive profitable results and uniquely brand GNC as the leading global specialty retailer of health and wellness products dedicated to helping consumers Live Well. This position is responsible for driving traffic, sales and profitable results and is part of the Marketing Team that supports our Marketing overall goals in conjunction with GNC's overall corporate goals and brand plan. This person establishes and maintains relationships with our corporate Marketing Team as well as all major functional groups within the GNC corporate office and field based Vice President's of Sales, Divisional Sales Directors, Regional Sales Directors, Franchise Operations Directors and all Store Management throughout both corporate and franchise stores. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 40% - Event Marketing Strategies, Events & Programs - Direct, Develop and Manage all territory level (local, district, market and regional) event marketing strategies, events, programs and activities along with national chain-wide events that support and build the GNC brand and initiatives along with add a positive shopping experience for our customers while generating increased customer transactions, average sale ticket, sales and revenue. 30% - Event Management - Oversee all operation aspects of the Event Marketing function including creative, production, fulfillment, execution, signage and reporting. - Manage direct reports (Manager, Events and Coordinator, Events) who manage the day-to-day operations, execution and communications for GNC Live Well events. - Facilitate and direct cross functional team meetings to execute events. - Manage outside agencies in support of marketing events. - Work with outside vendors, agencies, organizations to facilitate execution of marketing events and negotiate agreements. - Develop new and creative ways to improve integration of retailing and branding elements to increase merchandise sales, store traffic counts, customer conversion and coupon redemptions through the overall execution and development of above mentioned marketing materials and programs. 10% - Administrative Responsibilities - Direct, manage and evaluate all Event Marketing budgets and expenses and reconcile operating budgets and expenses monthly in order to insure expense targets are met and that discrepancies are alerted to finance department. - Develop and manage the Event Marketing Annual Planning calendar. - Drive top-line sales by developing and directing Event Marketing initiatives and programs in a timely, thorough and proactive manner. - Drive enrollment of GNC Gold Card Loyalty programs within all aspects of job - Deliver results and level of excellence and professionalism on all events, programs or projects as assigned. - Conduct post event review meetings and reporting and react to any correction of errors for implementation and improvement at next event. 10% - Associate Development and Mentoring - Direct, Develop, Manage and Coach associates to build skills, enhance performance, and make a difference in positive results with an ongoing focus on relentless improvement for the company and the communities we serve. 10% - Miscellaneous - Ensure excellent holistic execution and evaluation of all corporate and local marketing activities, national events, partnerships and initiatives and other related sponsorship opportunities as directed. - Assist stores/corporate with key product and competitive information for important sales and promotional events. - Provide feedback on various territorial and market programs and events. - Develop relationships with vendors, sales reps, and service organizations that do business with our company. - Communicate new product opportunities to merchandising organization.


Required Skills

EDUCATION: 4-year college degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration or Communications EXPERIENCE: 10+ years progressive marketing experience in a retail or multi-unit environment along with retail management experience SKILLS REQUIRED: - Excellent Leadership Skills, Judgment and Decision Making - Excellent Management Skills – Staff Leadership - Excellent interpersonal and team building skills - Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment. - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint - Flexible in work schedule including some nights, weekends and holidays
