DISNEY THEATRICAL GROUP (DTG) is among the world’s most successful commercial theatre enterprises. DTG produces or licenses live entertainment events that reach a global annual audience of more than 20 million people in more than 40 countries. DTG produces and licenses Broadway musicals around the world, including Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Elton John & Tim Rice’s Aida, TARZAN® , Mary Poppins, a co-production by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh, and The Little Mermaid. DTG also delivers live entertainment around the globe through its license to Feld Entertainment, producer of Disney on Ice and Disney Live!. In addition, DTG licenses musical titles for local school and community theatre productions through Music Theatre International.


The Director, Partnership Development is responsible for prospecting and generating new sponsorship and promotional partnerships in addition to nurturing existing relationships within The Walt Disney Company in support of Disney Theatrical Group’s (DTG) domestic productions. This individual will possess a superior sales background, ability to develop leads and manage the sales pipeline while possessing extraordinary relationship management skills. Success of the role is evaluated on the value of incremental sponsorship revenue in addition to the additional media value to supplement existing show budgets. This position reports to the VP-Sales, CRM and Partnerships and is based in New York City.


Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic direction for development and execution of new business development for cornerstone promotions and sponsors in support of our Broadway productions
  • Execute plans to pitch, negotiate and implement integrated marketing partnerships showcasing DTG as the world class partner for partnership opportunities on Broadway and across our national tours
  • Develop communication plan and enhance relationships within the brand management, press/communications as well as senior executive team
  • Mentor and lead the development of direct reports
  • Manage third party agency relationships in support of our domestic partnerships
  • Liaison when necessary with Director of Marketing Live Entertainment for alignment of Feld promotions within the existing corporate relationships
  • Manage relationships with The Walt Disney Company Alliance Management, Business Development and Synergy teams in support of corporate partnerships


    Required Skills

  • 8-10+ years of progressive new business development within the live entertainment and/or sports industry
  • Must be an exceptional seller with the proven ability to build consensus with partners in addition to internal disciplines to “sell-through” integrated programs
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor team members
  • Has proven ability to be strategic, creative and solution oriented
  • Keen sense of project ownership with ability to embrace various departmental support for full program execution
  • Ability to manage time and project management in a fast paced environment


    Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA strongly preferred
  • Established relationships in non-traditional sales and agency relations
  • Extensive knowledge of the live entertainment/sports marketplace
