The Sr. Marketing Manager, Events and Local Marketing, will be responsible for the development and execution of marketing strategies and tactics to drive the growth of new customers through the execution of grand openings, local store marketing, competitive marketing, and micromarketing. This individual will lead a team of marketers to develop customized and targeted marketing plans to reach the customer, drive traffic, create a meaningful customer experience, and ultimately drive sales and loyalty.


Key responsibilities:

  • Leading marketing programs from inception through implementation and ensuring consistency and effectiveness through cross-functional leadership and collaboration.
  • Present strategy and results to Senior team members (Customer Experience EVP, Store Operations SVP and Petsmart CEO)
  • Develop and execute marketing plans, work cross-functionally with core business partners and vendors: includes writing the creative briefs, tracking progress and ensuring on-time/budget execution.
  • Work cross-functionally with creative services, store operations, merchants, finance, and other departments to understand, develop and execute strategic, customer-centric programs focused on driving Petsmart businesses
  • Analyze event, industry and competitive data and utilize meaningful and relevant data to improve effectiveness and efficiency of events
  • Manage forecast, tracking and accuracy of assigned budget line items.
  • Overall, a functional leader that delivers against business goals by leading and managing complex cross-functional projects. Independent self-starter who has consistently exhibited a bias for action, as opposed to excessive analysis and evaluation aimed at “perfect solutions.”
  • Directly supervise a team of 2 Marketing personnel.
  • Responsibilities: planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; coaching and developing associates.


    Required Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or similar required
  • MBA or other advanced graduate degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of marketing experience; past supervisory responsibility highly desired
  • Knowledge of retail operations, store environment, merchandising, and consumer behavior is a must
  • Experience in a retail environment highly desired
