The NewBusiness Development team is responsible for developing opportunities inMarketing, Merchandising, Digital and Corporate development, particularly opportunities that involve new revenue, business models and strategic partnerships.


A Day in the Life


Entertainment is a core driver of the HSN Brand and platform for Boundaryless RetailTM.The Director of Entertainment Marketing will play a key role in the evolution and execution of HSN’s Entertainment strategy. This role will be responsible for helping to develop the ongoing strategy and tactics interfacing with senior HSN leaders and external partners.Reporting to the VP of New Business Development, the Director will share accountability to the HSN Operating Team for HSN’s Entertainment programs/calendar and will lead a cross-functional team to ensure HSN’s success. Also, given the companywide importance of Entertainment, the Director will have a strong “dotted-line” reporting to the EVP Television/Content andHSN’s Chief Marketing Officer.


  • HSN’s Entertainment Integration Strategy – work with President of HSN and key leaders to maintain HSN’s leadership position in the Entertainment/Retail space,staying ahead of competition and continuing to launch innovative entertainment collaborations through a truly integrated experience. This includes ensuring that our collaborations continue to have the highest level of creativity, energy and thoughtfulness expected from the HSN brand
  • Prioritization– due to HSN’s success in this arena, we are constantly exposed to amazing opportunities from studios, agents, agencies and partners. The Director will play a key role in maintaining the roster of opportunities, vetting against organization capacity and ensuring a constant flow of meaningful, creative executions integrated into HSN’s existing calendar of programming and priorities
  • EntertainmentContent – supporting the OVP Original Content and EVP TV/Content, understand content acquisition opportunities around entertainment properties, drive partners to provide unique and exclusive content and ensure successful ingest,processing and work balancing against programming/calendar editorial priorities. Seek to acquire partnerships and content that will drive our fixed programming and create exciting merch events for our customers
  • Merchandise/Programming– work with VP Merchandise Business Development and Divisional VP/SVPs to ensure tight integration when merchandise is involved, including best place/time to execute campaign. Also, effective communication of opportunity pipeline so merchants have maximum time to curate or create amazing product. VP Merchandise Business Development will continue to own the Studio ConsumerProducts relationships and work closely with this Director to ensure a smooth relationship and campaign executions
  • Marketing– work with CMO/leads to understand how we can most effectively utilize entertainment properties and programming to reinforce HSN’s brand with existing and new consumers. Also, use our data/analytics capability to inform which projects to prioritize. This function does not replace XNP but will work closely with Director Integrated Marketing and EPC to ensure all functions understand and have appropriate input on new opportunities
  • Partners– Along with VP New Business Development, key central interface for all Entertainment external partnerships, including Disney, Dreamworks Animation,Fox, Universal and Paramount. Coordinate with other HSN leads (e.g. Consumer Products, Content, Digital, etc.) to ensure consistent voice to partners. Also, work to develop new partnerships needed to support HSN’s Entertainment Strategy
  • BusinessDevelopment – Working with our Finance and Legal partners, manage all bus dev/contract aspects of these partnerships and campaigns including vetting and overall cost/budget control and P&L’s when appropriate for projects

    Must Haves

  • 5 years of strong project management experience
  • 7 years of experience working in a matrixed organization and/or role
  • 7 years of experience working with and presenting to senior executives
  • 5 years of experience managing senior level external partners
  • 5 years of experience with major initiative development and ownership
