The primary function of the role is to develop and manage a highly effective PR & Events Communications Plan to drive Claire’s level of communication, brand awareness, fashionability perception and Corporate & Employer profile.


The role works closely with the European PR & Events, Operational Marketing, E-Commerce & Creative Functions in all areas of responsibility.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


To ensure the Claire’s brand reaches as many key influencers as possible, driving coverage in all key customer media via PR & Events – this involves having a strong network of media contacts including fashion journalists, stylists & bloggers, and proposing strong effective PR & Event activity that drives footfall and transactions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts including journalists,bloggers, stylists & celebrities
  • Collaborate across Creative Services, Operational Marketing and E-Commerce & Social Media departments to develop and execute integrated communications programs
  • Manage campaigns, partnerships and events – these could be major events such as media launch parties or film partnerships, or local events such as store openings
  • Manage product launches in conjunction with the Buying, E-Comm & Operational Marketing teams
  • Effectively report on campaign effectiveness
  • React quickly to crisis situations
  • Ensure all projects remain within budget and scope and manage all deliverables
  • Main point of contact for all external media inquiries
  • Prepare and deliver PR performance metrics to Leadership Team, including monthly AVE reports
  • Develop and run the PR plan and calendar
  • Manage and evaluate any PR partner agencies
  • Manage the seasonal Press Day and Look Book process
  • Performance manage the PR and Marketing team – set objectives, regularly review performance against these objectives and conduct 6 monthly performance appraisals
  • Supervision, motivation and encouragement of staff – with coaching, feedback and effective relationship management the norm
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals for direct report(s) in accordance with Claire’s performance management process
  • Develop and promote the Company’s culture, vision and values within the team
  • Build and maintain effective working relationship with key partners across the business
  • Work closely with European and Corporate colleagues


    Required Skills

  • Marketing or Business Degree
  • Genuine passion & interest in fashion, accessories & Claire’s
  • At least 5 years’ experience in PR & Marketing within the fashion retail sector
  • In depth understanding of the teen, youth & fashion market & associated media
  • Proven track record of delivering brand awareness & growth; able to articulate how growth was strategised, planned and achieved
  • Has managed/evaluated or led an agency / agencies
  • Evidence of managing budgets & driving real value & rigorous cost control. Used to working with limited/constrained funding
  • Evidence of effectively working in partnership with other brands to drive campaigns, e.g. film link ups/ joint promotions
  • Has organised/managed marketing events e.g., store openings, press days etc.
  • Experience negotiating to get funding
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and to follow critical path timelines
  • Evidence of building and managing working relationships with PR and Marketing agencies and key target media
  • Strong process design skills
  • Strong bottom line focus
