The Director of Experiential Marketing contributes to the success of Sur La Table by developing marketing strategies and tactics to grow awareness, traffic, sales and profitability for Sur La Table business channels. The Director of Experiential Marketing will manage a multi-disciplined team including internal resources and external agency partners. The ideal candidate will have a deep multi-channel marketing background within the retail category and a proven track-record of effectively managing teams to achieve strong results. The Director of Experiential Marketing exercises discretion and judgment and reports to the SVP, Marketing.


  • Drive seasonal big ideas, including setting the framework, identifying target customers, initiatives, featured product categories, measuring results and incorporating into future plans.
  • Develop and manage omni-channel traffic driving programs that can be executed on a national or local level.
  • Drive brand awareness and adoption both internally and externally.
  • Develop innovative marketing programs within social that target our core and emerging customer sets and drive fan growth and engagement.
  • Align with head of Strategic Partnerships to ensure all partnerships and sponsorships are executed flawlessly.
  • Oversee marketing efforts as it relates to new store & culinary openings.
  • Measure efforts using both quantitative and qualitative means to ensure ROI targets are being met.
  • Manage departmental budget and maintain controls to ensure ongoing accountability within department.
  • Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to team to support succession and growth.
  • Manage multiple projects amidst shifting priorities while effectively managing deadlines.
  • Manage partners and agencies to achieve objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute marketing initiatives
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.


    Essential Functions

  • Ability to communicate verbally and work cooperatively with employees and customers.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to able to use computer and other office equipment to accomplish work tasks.
  • Ability to think critically and communicate complex thoughts and/or ideas in clear and concise manner.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.


    Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management or Business, with a concentration in Marketing or related field.
  • 10+ years brand marketing experience in the retail, hospitality or CPG industry.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing and developing people.
  • Intermediate MS office Suite proficiency.
  • Knowledge of media-buying process and pricing standards.
  • Knowledge of direct marketing practices.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Research management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
