  • Work closely with senior management to identify and develop new business opportunities and partnerships that help drive audience, revenue, and brand goals for Yahoo’s industry leading Sports Vertical.
  • Partners include (partial): NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, PGA, NBC Sports, Fantasy Sports, and many others
  • Evaluate prospective partners and analyze/provide strategic recommendations on new markets and emerging industry trends (global)
  • Advise and support various Yahoo groups (Product, Editorial, Ad Sales, Marketing, Engineering, etc.) on business development activities; lead cross-functional teams on business development analysis and execution
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with external partners and across internal groups. Keep all parties informed throughout the entire lifecycle of a deal
  • Oversee all aspects of Sports partnerships – sourcing, closing, and ongoing partner management
  • Negotiate a wide range of complex strategic partnerships and third party relationships
  • Develop analytical/financial models as appropriate, prepare business development proposals and business plans, present findings to colleagues and senior management
  • Stay on top of the latest developments, trends and business models in media, technology and sports


    Required Skills

    Experience Requirements:

  • 10 years experience in the areas of digital media, sports, technology, and/or business development
  • Solid understanding of traditional and new media, video, social, mobile and associated business models
  • Successful track record of structuring and negotiating complex business agreements
  • Enjoy working with multiple internal groups and leading new business development initiatives. Experience working successfully with external partners and collaborating across internal departments
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about sports and willing to travel occasionally

  • Excellent strategic and creative thinking with an emphasis on identifying and evaluating new opportunities in a dynamic media/technology marketplace
  • Superior communicator (written and face-to-face). Ability to influence and build consensus/develop relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong business and financial acumen; demonstrated quantitative/analytical experience; excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects
  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision and exercise independent, sound judgment and analysis

    Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Business, Media, Journalism, or in a related area supported by relevant work experience
  • Master’s in Business Administration or JD degree preferred
