The Licensing Director will be a key member of the team helping to drive growth with our collegiate and professional licensing. This candidate will need to work cross functionally across the collegiate business to maximize key revenue drivers. This director will ensure licensing agreements are monitored, and adhered to in terms, conditions and how we are performing.


Licensing Director will negotiate terms and condition of licensed agreements and work closely with our legal team. Work with Merchandising, Marketing and Sale teams to coordinate all proposal for new and extension to existing agreements. The candidate will negotiate new agreement and existing contract extension. Work closely with our Corporate Social Responsibility department to represent and meet with industry stake holder (Universities, Agencies, Labor Rights Group, NGO) in brand protection initiatives.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with internal partners, sales, merchandising and marketing, to develop and understand plans to share with licensor.
  • Build, manage and maintain relationships with licensor/agencies. Negotiate terms and conditions of licensed agreements.
  • Work closely with internal partners to understand sales trends (POS) and communicate retail performance to licensor.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for new licensing revenues.
  • Understand anticipate potential opportunities and challenges in the market place that may affect extension renewal of existing or new agreements.
  • Develop proposal and demonstrate best in class to grow brands vs competitors.
  • Prepare and present monthly/quarterly business reviews with licensor including sales, royalties, channels of distribution, retailer by product categories.
  • Ensure compliance of agreements i.e. guarantees, distribution channels and product categories.
  • Monitor industry trends, identify best practices of competing sports and gaming properties.
  • Timely and effective communication with Legal and Finance departments.
  • Forecasting guarantees and potential risk with Finance.


    Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field required. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven track record of success required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of prior work experience, with at least five (5) years of experience in licensing required.
  • Intellectual flexibility to reconsider historical approaches in business models in the context of the rapid evolution of the licensing landscape.
  • Highly analytical person who makes decisions and influences others based on data and empirical evidence.
  • High-energy, active approach in both managing/pushing existing partners to success and identifying new opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a diverse scope of projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment.
