Clif Bar & Company is looking for a PERFORMANCE SPORTS MARKETING COORDINATOR to join our Sports Marketing Team.

The Performance Sports Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting the execution of marketing activity across Clif’s “Performance Sports” segment (currently Running, Cycling, Triathlon, Obstacle Course Racing, and Traditional/Mainstream Sports). This position will provide support and coordination across a range of Performance Sports Marketing initiatives, including athlete sponsorship, events, proprietary programs, influencer programs, and general department support. The Performance Sports Marketing Coordinator will report to the Sr. Performance Sports Marketing Manager, but will work directly with the Performance Sports Marketing Manager on projects as assigned.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of marketing activity across Performance Sports helping to build Clif’s performance leadership and increasing brand and product relevancy for existing and new “performance-minded” consumers.
  • Provide Athlete Sponsorship support and execution, with a specific focus on unpaid sponsored athletes, including athlete selection, contract negotiation and execution, and ongoing relationship management (communication, marketing requests and calendars, product shipments, promo item shipments, etc.).
  • Develop evaluation tools, systems and general infrastructure of athlete sponsorship program.
  • Execute select event sponsorship programs and additional partnerships at the direction of Sr. Performance Sports Marketing Manager. Includes ongoing partner relationship management, fulfillment of contracts (product shipments, delivering creative assets), project recapping, and offering recommendations for future improvement.
  • Support in execution of select proprietary programs, including the CLIF Pace Team and CLIF Cast. Includes creative asset development, management of outside agencies for fulfillment, packaging and shipping assets, placing product orders, scheduling, etc.
  • Support Clif’s entry into Traditional Sports (i.e. Stick & Ball Sports), including influencer seeding, ambassador relationship management, and sponsorship execution.
  • Provide general team support by responding thoughtfully to external proposals, managing team storage space, coordinating promotional item orders, placing product orders, organizing group events and meetings, and setting up team resources as needed to facilitate program execution.
  • Prepare and administer budgets for product, promotional items, cash sponsorships and other benefits.
  • Be knowledgeable in Performance Sports and related consumer mindset, immersed in the landscape, and consistently build relationships to keep Clif authentic, connected, and credible.
  • Monitor and analyze Performance Sports trends, best practices, and consumer mindset, and apply this analysis to programs and initiatives to keep brand at the leading edge. Fully understand and embrace brand and Sports Marketing goals and objectives and ensure marketing efforts deliver on these targets.

    Education/Training Required

  • Bachelor’s degree is required and three to five years’ Sports Marketing experience is preferred.
