​The Head of Global Olympics Sponsorship Marketing represents an exciting opportunity for a passionate global marketing and sponsorship management executive. He/she will be responsible for management of the existing and future sponsorships of Visa in the Olympics world, for leading a team that will develop all communication related to these properties and for executing the events on the ground.


Visa's global partnerships include the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in place for 30 years, National Olympic Committees (such as the USOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), selected national federations (Track & Field, Swimming, Skiing and Snowboard, etc.) and 40+ athletes that make up Team Visa. Reporting to the Vice President of Global Sponsorship Marketing, this accomplished professional will be the face of Visa across our Global Olympic partners including the IOC, USOC, and the Organizing Committees for Rio 2016, Pyeongchang 2018, and Tokyo 2020, etc.


On top of a deep understanding of the business of the Olympics globally and a natural passion for sport, this professional must have strong connections with the key players in the industry around the world. The scope of work includes (a) leading a broad team of agency partners in event management and implementation of the Visa infrastructure in the host countries of major future events and (b) a team of senior managers in the USA, Russia, and other countries that will host future Olympic Games.


This global marketer will partner with the Visa Global Brand, Product and Innovation marketing team to ensure delivery of Visa's marketing campaigns, and work hand in hand with regional counterparts to strengthen strategic alignment and integration of all sponsorships. There will be accountability for meeting established ROI and marketing effectiveness measures across all areas. As a general marketer, he/she will ensure that Visa is strategic and creative in optimizing the value of its Olympics sponsorships driving business results around the world.


Responsibility Scope


Sponsorship Management:

  • Lead Sponsorship Acquisition, Sponsorship Portfolio Management, Event Operations & Hospitality.
  • To be the main point of contact with all parties sponsored by Visa and other prospect organizing bodies. This professional will have ongoing interaction with top management and make decisions impacting Visa's ability to leverage the properties and market them throughout the world.
  • Lead contract negotiations with prospect partners and renegotiations with existing ones interacting with Legal and representing the business point of view, driving alignment and across the organization.
  • Lead the coordination in host countries of the infrastructure of the events. Liaise with the Organizing Committees and the Host Country
  • Project Manager to ensure smooth delivery of Visa's contractual assets and provide oversight to insure rights are protected.


    Matrix work: comfortably and continuously present high performance on a matrix organization where multiple Global, Regional and Local constituents converge towards the same event.


    Sponsorship Marketing:

  • Work collaboratively with the Global Brand, Product and Innovation marketing team on the development of all Olympics consumer, client and partner communications including but is not limited to: development of core creative idea, visual identity systems, promotions, digital strategy and plans including social media, on the ground activation at event time including the onsite activation, advertising, media strategy, etc.


    Executive Leadership:

  • Oversee all Olympics Organization capability development and talent development to promote worldwide marketing leadership in the USA, Russia, Brazil and all other countries where Olympic events take place.


    Required Skills

  • Higher education. MBA / Masters Degree a plus.
  • 12-15 work experience in Marketing, Marketing Operations and/or Sports Marketing, preferably in multinational organizations across global initiatives and campaigns.
  • International work experience strongly desired.
  • Work experience in the Olympic Movement or similar national or multi-national properties and involvement in the organization of large events (FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League or Euro, etc.) is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, experience in client management is a plus.
  • Strong Olympic relationships desired.
  • Able to meet role's frequent international travel requirements (30%).
  • Knowledge of payment services marketing programs preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams toward common goals.
  • Self-starter; client-oriented, comfortable working independently.
  • Experience in complex project management and the ability to manage multiple projects at one-time.
  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have language proficiency in English. Korean or Japanese are a plus.
