The Senior Sports Marketing Coordinator will partner with the Sports Marketing Director to help build out our growing sports department within tronc. This individual will be responsible for managing team, sponsor, and promotional campaigns. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of something at the ground level and learn and develop as the business grows by coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Sports Marketing group.
Responsibilities:
Manage tactical execution of Sports Marketing partnerships including:
Primary day-to-day contact for teams, leagues, and properties
Pre and post management of team, sponsor, and promotional campaigns
Assist in strategic planning and the development of new programs
Manage and track the use of partnership assets
Act as internal liaison across business functions:
Project manage several creative requests and collaborate with Creative team
Develop media campaigns with Consumer Marketing and adhere to strict deadlines
Work on sponsor proposals with Advertising including strategizing activations and going on sales calls
Help build sports Retail/E-Commerce through identifying partnership opportunities to expand the sales footprint
Collaborate with Editorial on coverage sponsorship opportunities when appropriate
Assist Director in managing internal deliverables during major sporting events – World Series, Stanley Cup, etc.
Enhance event and on-site activation and customer acquisition strategy
Work with teams across tronc markets to help scale local programs nationally – serve as day-to-contact for information and best practice communication
Work with Director on sponsor reach out and partnership development:
Build a network of partner relationships facilitated through current and new sports partnerships
Develop sponsor-facing sales materials
Identify opportunities to create custom activations for potential sponsors
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, attending conferences, and reading trade publications.
Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Minimum 2-3 years of Marketing and/or Partnerships experience; Sports/Team experience a big plus
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University
Creative, passionate, and eager to work in an autonomous, start-up environment and wear multiple hats
Ability to manage several projects across several different business functions concurrently
Comfortable in a sales environment; ability to carry oneself professionally in front of partners and potential sponsors
Exemplary personal and relationship-building skills
Strong understanding of Marketing strategy and execution
Proficient in Microsoft Office – primarily Excel and PowerPoint
Experience in developing marketing materials and comfortable with revenue and expense tracking
Willingness to travel occasionally (< 10%)
