Location: Athleta is relocating to San Francisco at the end of January, 2017!! This role will be located at 1 Harrison Street in San Francisco, Ca.


Start Date: The anticipated start date for this role will be January 29th, 2017 or therefore after.


SUMMARY


The Manager of PR, Partnerships & Community will play a key role in Athleta’s annual and seasonal PR, partnership and community strategies and execution to help grow brand awareness, strengthen brand and product credibility among media and key influencers, acquire new customers, drive traffic and deepen the emotional connection customers experience with our brand. This position reports to the Director of PR, External Communications, Partnerships & Community and is part of the brand marketing team.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Public Relations & External Communications

  • Play a key role in developing and implementing Athleta’s annual and seasonal PR plans
  • Elevate Athleta’s relationship with and awareness among key influencers
  • Partner with PR agency to develop and execute public relations plans for Athleta – including, but not limited to managing media interviews, product/sample/image requests, and managing & executing PR / influencer events
  • Partner with internal partners to concept, execute and distribute seasonal “look books”
  • Partner with agency to order samples of key seasonal styles/products for editors and influencers
  • Support the development of key press materials including press releases, media alerts, and talking points in partnership with Gap Inc. Corporate Communications & PR Agency
  • Manage our store-related PR/communications strategy and execution
  • Partner with Gap Inc. Corporate Communications to ensure alignment
  • Ensure alignment, integration and hind sighting with omni-channel marketing and cross-functional partners
  • Partner with PR Agency to develop and continuously improve reporting and sharing results with an emphasis on tying to metrics PR agency and budget management


    Brand Partnerships / Sponsorships

  • Manage Athleta partnerships/sponsorships including relationship building and management, evaluating opportunities against objectives, managing the contract and payment processes, and conceiving and implementing high impact activations
  • Manage operational implementation of all facets of the partnership/sponsorship, including securing creative/program assets, developing schedules and deadlines, partnering with cross-functional teams required for execution, etc.
  • Partner with omni-channel marketing and cross-functional teams to integrate and powerfully activate partnerships/sponsorships across all relevant brand touchpoints
  • Create executive-level partnership/sponsorship marketing metrics (i.e. “dashboard”) updates
  • Effectively manage partnership budgets and payments


    Community

  • Maximize the reach and impact of Athleta’s community program
  • Work closely with Community Market Managers to support Athleta’s community events, Brand Ambassador and FitPro programs
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment of community programs
  • Provide support for the development of materials and tools to support local community initiatives
  • Support assessment and sharing of program results with a constant eye toward refining, building and improving our community engagement


    Required Skills

  • 3- 6 years marketing/communications experience. Desired experience includes:

    - Experience with media outreach, events, partnerships in a fast paced environment

    - Experience working with community, brand ambassadors and influencers

    - Agency experience or experience managing external PR Agency

  • Quick learner and resourceful; able to prioritize effectively
  • Comfortable with operating in a fast-paced environment and dealing with ambiguity
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Fashion/Sports/Fitness industries
  • Strong verbal, written communications and presentation skills
  • Outstanding collaboration and project management skills, including demonstrated track record in managing complex projects across functional lines
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • High level of ownership, accountability, initiative and drive
  • Experience in budget planning and management
  • Ability to travel
  • BA required, Communications or Marketing desired
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Social Media
