Leadership – Leading a team of marketers to deliver against strategic goals to achieve partnership business objectives. Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational
capability, and modeling how we work together:
Leads the department in defining, developing, producing and managing Starbucks partnership marketing strategies and promotions to deliver against business KPIs
Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
Successfully communicates up, down and across the organization both orally and in writing. Understands audiences and tailors communication appropriately.
Supports the implementation of Company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote Starbucks key messages and achieve a competitive advantage.
Planning and Execution - Developing strategic marketing plans for the work group and cross-functional marketing teams, managing execution, and measuring results:
Develops long-term strategies and marketing plans; collaborates with cross-functional marketing teams in development of plans.
Leads and mentors cross-functional teams to develop strategic marketing approach and activities on a rolling 18-month calendar.
Directs the development of five-year strategic plans and may develop annual operating plan to reach business goals.
Develops marketing budgets and evaluate spend levels, effectiveness and create recommendations for optimization.
Collaborates with partnership business relationship team to evaluate potential marketing partnerships, sponsorships and other on-going relationships, including measurement of operating performance and delivery of shared business objectives.
Plans and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
Collaborates with other marketing leaders to develop an overall marketing and promotional strategy for particular market segments.
Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
Sets strategic marketing direction for partnership promotions, projects, and/or a category that map back to the business goals.
Develop cross-channel one voice marketing & communication plans and communication
Proactively identifies opportunities, influences peers and senior leaders, and drives action.
Uses promotion recaps, analysis, and consumer insights as a basis for recommendations.
Defines brand architecture and communication strategies.
Directs the management of the promotional calendar, including promotional development and communications. Integrates promotional planning with retail and other business unit calendars.
Leads multiple functional groups to create and adapt meaningful promotions for market segment customers
May manages external advertising agency to develop brand & product advertising in support of business unit sales and marketing efforts.
Oversees competitive research and trend analysis to inform and guide marketing strategy and programs. Manages staff resources and coordinates with company market research function.
Partner Development & Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
Develops a team that works collaboratively. Cultivates team morale and motivation by setting obtainable goals, establishing a shared vision, providing clear communication and constructive feedback.
Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
Proactively builds rapport with peer set.
Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Functional Partnership and promotional marketing expertise: Knowledge of partnership marketing and relationship management direct or indirect retail, CPG and brand marketing. Progressive experience in marketing program development/planning and implementation. Communications planning and brand management.
Strong communicator: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to confidently present objectives and desired outcomes to leadership and cross functional teams. Consistently uses communications and presentation skills to influence outcomes. Ability to influence others without authority to get things done in a timely fashion.
Critical strategic and creative thinking: Ability to think strategically and creatively. Ability to problem-solve and drive towards resolution. Ability to write focused, strategic briefs, and evaluate creative and marketing programs against strategy.
Business and financial acumen: Strong analytical and measurement/tracking skills. Conduct analysis and present data and findings clearly, concisely and accurately. Be able to draw meaningful conclusions and indicated actions, and set performance benchmarks.
