Barilla America Inc (BAI) is seeking its next Experiential Marketing Professional within the External Relations & Consumer Activation Team in the Marketing Department to be based out of our North American HQ in Northbrook, IL. This role reports to a Sr. Marketing Manager and, as an idividual contributor, has no direct reports but may have periodic oversight and occasionally direct the work of outside consultants or independent contractors.


Responsibilities:

  • Event and Sponsorship Marketing: Produce various consumer, customer, influencer-facing events from contract negotiations through planning, creative development and execution; from shipping to on-site management to service. Design market tours with and without leveraging a mobile kitchen(s). Manage mobile kitchen(s)’ maintenance. Interact and engage with consumers, customers and influencers. Closely work with internal and external culinary teams to manage scheduling, required orders (product, equipment, grocery), recipe planning/testing, support staffing, space rentals, prep & cooking procedures, transportation, and more.
  • Sponsorship/Partnership Relations: Research, evaluate, recommend, negotiate and manage partnerships. Develop strong relationships and exceptionally represent Barilla. Ensure partnership agreements are approved by legal and fulfilled.
  • Procurement: work with vendors to procure event materials such as, but not limited to, apparel, disposables, signage, etc. Work closely with Marketing Buyer to secure bids for all eligible experiential needs.
  • Agency Management: Manage, develop and oversee agency relationships and contracts to ensure brand standards are respected and programs are executed flawlessly.
  • Project Management: Manage and flawlessly lead execution of various projects across all business units. Foster collaboration, motivate and inspire teams to achieve their highest potential. Demonstrate the ability to influence others while working effectively with a cross-functional team. Lead inventory and shipment management.
  • Budget Responsibility: Manage and identify changes impacting the budget and proactively communicate implications and recommendations.
  • Reporting/Monitoring/Analysis: Responsible for tracking performance. Develop program wrap-up reports for management. 30%-40% travel required
  • Other duties as assigned


    Required Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (Marketing, PR or Communication)
  • 8-10 years’ experience leading large-scale events (serving 25,000+) to mid-scale events (serving 5,000 – 20,000) and small-scale events (<5,000).
  • Proficient understanding of health codes with regard to food preparation & service, specifically in California
  • Astute ability to assess risk and design contingency efforts
  • Highly proven problem-solving skills with solid business judgment
  • Exceptional regard for high-quality standards, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Proven negotiations skills
  • Ability to keep agencies tightly to task, prioritize, multi-task, manage multiple/simultaneous workstreams
  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications skills, both online and offline.
  • Fluent English
  • Strong ability to work in teams and build good working relationships, but also work independently
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations
  • Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience; passion for food
  • Proficient in PC and MS Office (Microsoft Word; Advanced experience using Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook)
