Clif Bar & Company is looking for a PERFORMANCE SPORTS MARKETING MANAGER to join our Sports Marketing Team.

The Sports Marketing Manager, Performance is responsible for driving the execution of marketing activity across Clif’s “Performance Sports” segment (currently Running, Cycling, Triathlon, Obstacle Course Racing, and Traditional/Mainstream Sports), under the guidance of the Sr. Performance Sports Marketing Manager.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive the execution of marketing activities across Performance Sports, helping to build Clif’s performance leadership and increasing brand and product relevancy for existing and new “performance-minded” consumers.
  • Work with the Sports Marketing Senior Manager to develop strategy for CLIF’s “Top Moment” executions. Lead cross-functional execution of these event sponsorships, including Boston Marathon, Ironman and Spartan.
  • Recommend strategy and lead execution for Athlete Sponsorship across Performance Sports, including athlete selection, contract negotiation, and development and execution of Athlete Marketing plans.
  • Oversee management and marketing for Performance Sports athletes and teams (paid, product support, and Team CLIF Bar Cycling owned teams) in tandem with cross-functional teams.
  • Drive the strategy and execution of key Performance Sports event sponsorship programs and proprietary programs (CLIF Pace Team) in tandem with cross-functional teams
  • Activate and leverage the Performance Sports program in the physical and digital space, including experiential activations, content, imagery, social media, editorial media, etc. in partnership with a cross-functional team.
  • Ensure Performance Sports initiatives are working together with Adventure Sports programming to best support the overall Sports Marketing Team objectives.
  • Be an expert in Performance Sports and associated consumer mindset, immersed in the landscape, connected via a vast network, and have a desire to build new relationships to keep Clif authentic, connected, and credible.
  • Monitor and analyze Performance Sports news, trends and best practices, and apply to programs and initiatives to keep the brand at the leading edge. Fully understand and embrace Brand, Sports Marketing and Field Marketing objectives and ensure marketing efforts deliver on these targets.
  • Inspire, contribute to and secure internal excitement for Performance Sports Marketing plans.
  • Prepare reports and analyses that summarize, measure, and evaluate results of marketing efforts.
  • Manage annual budget upload, track spend and assess outcomes.

  • Strong understanding of digital content, social media marketing, and communications


    Education/Training Required

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 5+ years of Sports Marketing experience is essential.
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in marketing strategy, work organization, and influence management.
