The Manager, Sports Marketing is responsible for negotiating and managing relationships with athletes and athletic / sporting event partners, while working closely with the other marketing functions to build integrated marketing plans that ladder up to long-term brand strategies to drive growth. The role will also include working with the Director, Sports Marketing to help develop an immediate and long term strategic approach to sports marketing asset investment and acquisition and evaluate marketing rights for each. Expected travel 25%.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides analysis and delivery for sports marketing assets; supports the identification of potential new assets (both in sports endemic to the brand and those in new territories of growth); manages the productivity of marketing asset investments (fewer, bigger, better); utilizes appropriate asset activation tools.
Assists Director, Sports Marketing in building a 3-5 year marketing asset strategy that connects the passion points of our consumers with our brand and corporate strategies and objectives.
Working with legal and finance, leads the negotiation and management of Sports Marketing assets including managing renewals and risks
Working with the Sr. Brand Manager Performance, strategically assess current activation of assets across media, experiential marketing, spokespeople, festivals, and event properties to identify strategic white spaces where our brands should be.
Understanding of what is going on in the external sports marketing sponsorship industry, measurement techniques, evaluation/ROI tools, etc
Participate in brand planning to ensure Sports Marketing assets and partnerships are represented and integrated during the planning/briefing phase
Measure, track, and evaluate the execution to evolve and inform the strategy and plans moving forward.
Interacts with all levels throughout organization including employees and outside vendors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years of experience in a sports marketing / partnership role
Undergraduate degree in business, communications or marketing; MBA / graduate degree is an asset.
Experience in contract negotiation and management.
Experience in setting objectives and managing performance
Experience in building relationships with/working alongside internal and external stakeholder
Experience converting strategic plans and ideas to tactical plans for execution
Experience in leading and managing a team of employees
