This includes everything from advertising, promotions and print production to media relations, exhibition coordination and website maintenance. Everyone from artists, writers, designers, media buyers, event coordinators, video producers/editors and public relations specialists work together to bring campaigns and product-centric promotions to life. We are looking for a full time Sponsor Marketing Specialist at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role you will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing strategic sponsorship and promotional programs that give exposure to Garmin products and build awareness and value in the Garmin brand for the outdoor division.


Other essential functions include:


  • Be an ambassador to the outdoor division working closely with marketing leaders to understand sales and marketing objectives to identify and pursue sponsorship, promotional, and event opportunities relative to each of Garmin’s outdoor recreational markets (dog, hunting, hiking, golf)
  • Manage the day-to-day responsibilities related to Garmin’s outdoor sponsorships, promotions and events
  • Work with company spokespersons, personalities and contractors who support and represent Garmin brand initiatives and coordinate their marketing activities in support of Garmin
  • Evaluate unsolicited in-coming marketing sponsorship opportunities and act on those that are deemed relevant to Garmin’s marketing objectives
  • Attend and represent Garmin’s interest at sanctioned sponsor events and other events as deemed necessary
  • Establish ROI goals for various activation components and track performance against objectives
  • Evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively each event/program and continuously improve measures of success
  • Create detailed reports of all activation programs in the marine market
  • Evaluate and secure product placement opportunities through movies, television and other mass media/promotional outlets


    Required Skills

    Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, advertising, communication, journalism or another related field from a four-year college or university. Other requirements include:


  • Must possess strong knowledge of the outdoor sports market
  • Must be detail-oriented and can work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Willing to travel
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


    Experience with or interest in the outdoor sports and pet/dog markets is a plus.
