As our Events Director, you'll be a strategic thought partner and experiential visionary that drives innovative event marketing. You'll work across category and oversee elements of integrated event marketing plans including but not limited to: concepting event vision, identifying strategic partners/spaces, setting program objectives, building communication strategies, creating retail presence, executing on-site retail, and leading grassroots efforts. You'll ensure regional, corporate, and divisional marketing objectives are achieved within budgetary guidelines. You'll lead the coordination and integration of internal Nike resources as well as direct third party agencies towards the successful execution of all aspects of Nike's presence at events. You'll implement project management practices to enhance product and brand presentation quality standards. You'll actively participate in contract negotiations with event organizers and governing bodies. You'll lead, cultivate, and mentor project team members by providing direction, inspiration, resources, and communication to maximize effectiveness of event planning and execution processes. You'll establish goals, clarify expectations, and monitor performance with clear and timely feedback to ensure team efficiency and workload balance. You'll act as liaison between Event Managers and other divisions to ensure that event marketing efforts meet goals and expectations, tie into corporate initiatives, and support brand messages. You'll actively participate in business planning and budget preparation including development of budgets, A/R's, design and marketing briefs, planning schedules, operations and staffing plans - linked to category priorities. In addition, you'll supervise management and tracking of budgets including forecasting and cost analysis.


Required Skills

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 7 years' experience in events management is required
  • In-depth knowledge of the LA area
  • Prior experience working with or within large brands
  • Ability to negotiate contracts with external vendors
  • Experience managing agency relationships and their output.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to build & coach event teams, supervise staff, delegate & work with others under aggressive timeframes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within aggressive timeframes, flexibility to adjust & respond to multiple changes
  • Ability to work long/extended hours as necessary
