Business Overview:


The Brand & Communications team oversees the communication strategy of BNP Paribas in the Americas including that of Corporate & Institutional Banking, in collaboration with the Bank of the West, and the Group communications teams. The functions of this group include Events & Sponsorship, Media Relations and Social Media, Philanthropic Initiatives, Advertising Client Creative Services, Internal Communications and Video Services.


Responsibilities: The Head of Events & Partnerships is responsible for managing a team of event planners who look after both internal and external events for the region as well as specific event for various business lines. The successful candidate will also be responsible for sponsorships, activation and associated activities. Included in the remit is management of our Philanthropic Initiatives and partnerships, which are in large part event-based. Coordination of Canadian and LatAm teams is necessary as is close collaboration and partnership with sister-organization Bank of the West.


  • Development of events and partnerships strategy for the territory, businesses, functions, and management in the region
  • Management and oversight of events team to ensure that event planners are deployed effectively across all business lines and functions according to demand and capacity.
  • Direct management of Philanthropic Initiatives Manager. Working to leverage, develop and evolve our current Philanthropic initiatives offering and community outreach.
  • Partnering with other events management teams in other parts of the bank including subsidiaries in the Region and internationally.
  • Responsible for overseeing all Americas Group / Region-wide events and events for [Territory, BP2S, Corporate Platform and Functions].
  • Measuring and monitoring return on investment by ensuring events and sponsorship are driven by commercial goals: managing budgets to ensure that value is maximized
  • Review and optimize all events procurement, with a coordinated approach to purchasing and suppliers, negotiating contracts, evaluation of suppliers.
  • Managing sponsorship activities to ensure maximum brand visibility and activation levels.
  • Management of other partnerships philanthropic and cultural, including Corporate Memberships.
  • Develop sponsorship budgeting to provide transparent reporting to business lines on sponsorship spend.
  • Developing new IT based systems for invitations and event evaluation. Development and implementation of appropriate policies, procedures and processes.


    Required Skills

    Minimum Required Qualifications:


  • 10 + years of Events Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • A strategic approach to events and sponsorship
  • An understanding of brand development and promotion and ideally involvement with philanthropic endeavors
  • General management and people management skills
  • Knowledge of events management best practice, tools and opportunities
  • High level of numeracy
  • An understanding of IT applications
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Eye for detail - methodical approach to work
  • Excellent communications skills (both written and spoken)
  • Comfortable in a leadership role
  • Creativity - ability to think from different perspectives in different situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to liaise in a professional manner with all levels of staff/management and external contacts
  • Willingness to travel
  • Direct contribution to BNPP operational permanent control framework


    Preferred Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of the banking industry and global financial markets Language proficiency (particularly French, Spanish or Portuguese) is a plus but not required
