Capital One is looking for a Manager to lead the brand sponsorship strategy and planning efforts within the brand marketing team. This role will be responsible for developing the sponsorship strategy, experiential activation & cardholder “loyalty perks” programming across multiple lines of business, support annual marketing planning, budget development, agency support needs and ROI measurement and analysis.


This role will help define how business objectives can be met by a cohesive and integrated sponsorship and experiential marketing strategy. Successful candidates should have experience in business case development to gain support for new initiatives, as well as ability to establish measurements and metrics to determine program effectiveness. Candidates should have knowledge and experience leading and activating sports or entertainment (e.g., music) based sponsorships and working with external creative and activation agencies This role is suited for a strong, multi-discipline marketing individual ideally with experience building out marketing strategies and go-to-market planning.


Ensure all activities are tied to an integrated marketing communications plan when applicable, partnering with external and internal creative and media agency colleagues, marketing/communications, Brand, Digital, PR, Social and other Marketing and Business functions.


Successful candidates will have experience leveraging social or digital marketing campaigns to amplify sponsorship activations. Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of strategy and objectives for sponsorship properties, Cardholder “perks / Access” & Experiential Activations
  • Define role of Sponsorship channel within larger marketing planning
  • Understand individual line of business needs in order to build strategies and activations that maximize return on investment and sponsorship key performance indicators
  • Lead cross-functional teams (internal and external) through the development and execution of sponsorships
  • Communicate key metrics and opportunities through written reports, presentations and stakeholder status meetings for both existing and new sponsorship properties
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on new sponsorship requests based on business needs

  • Strong strategy background
  • Passion for Experiential, Sponsorships and Sports/Entertainment Marketing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven autonomous leadership in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to drive and drive projects across a cross-functional team
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • An understanding of the role social, content and digital media plays in amplifying sponsorships
  • Record of sound decision making under pressure/compressed timelines
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with competing deadlines
  • Flexibility to travel 30+%


    Required Skills

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in strategy development, sponsorships or experiential marketing
  • At least 5 years of experience in marketing or marketing disciplines


    Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • At least 8 years’ experience in Strategy, experiential, hospitality and/or sponsorships
  • At least 5 years’ experience across other marketing disciplines Sponsorship consulting or agency experience
