Clif Bar & Company is looking for an ADVENTURE SPORTS MARKETING MANAGER to join our Sports Marketing Team.

Primary Responsibilities


  • The Adventure Sports Marketing Manager will be responsible for driving the execution of marketing activities across CLIF’s “Adventure Sports” segment (currently Skiing, Snowboarding, Surfing, Climbing, and Mountain Biking), under the guidance of the Sr. Adventure Sports Marketing Manager.


  • Drive the execution of marketing activities across Adventure Sports, helping to build CLIF’s leadership and increasing brand and product relevancy for existing and new values forward “adventure-minded” consumers.
  • Work with the Sports Marketing Senior Manager to develop and drive strategy, own relationships, and lead executions with CLIF’s premier partnerships. Examples include US Ski and Snowboard Team, USA Climbing, Crankworx and the Burton US Open of Snowboarding.
  • Recommend strategy and lead cross-functional activation of Athlete Sponsorships across Adventure Sports, including athlete selection, contract negotiation, and development and execution of Athlete Marketing and Activation plans.
  • Activate and leverage the Adventure Sports program in the physical and digital space, including experiential activations, content, imagery, social media, editorial media, etc. in partnership with a cross-functional team.
  • Ensure Adventure Sports initiatives are working together with Performance Sports programming to best support the overall Sports Marketing Team objectives.
  • Be an expert in Adventure Sports and associated consumer mindset, immersed in the landscape, connected in the sport communities, and driven to build new relationships to keep CLIF authentic, connected, credible and values forward Monitor and analyze Adventure Sports news, trends and best practices, and apply to programs and initiatives to keep the brand at the leading edge.
  • Fully understand CLIF’s values and performance driven mindset to embrace Brand, Sports Marketing and Field Marketing objectives and ensure marketing efforts deliver on these targets.
  • Be passionate and experienced in Environmental Advocacy in order to work hand in hand with partners, programs and people to strategize and activate CLIF’s environmental values, initiatives and tactics (ambassadors, events, films, media, brands, non-profits, etc.).
  • Inspire, contribute to and secure internal excitement for Adventure Sports Marketing plans.
  • Prepare reports and analyses that summarize, measure, and evaluate results of marketing efforts.
  • Manage annual budget upload, track spend and assess outcomes.

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills.


    Education/Training Required


  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 5+ years of Sports Marketing experience is essential.
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in marketing strategy, work organization, and influence management.
