Lead a global team of category and sports marketing leadership across multiple end-use categories (Football, Basketball, Golf, etc.) and divisions (Grassroots, College, and Pro). Leadership will include both direct reports, and peer or indirect reports.
Develop a powerful vision and road map for UA’s global sports marketing footprint.
Cultivate and negotiate strategic relationships and ultimately, profitable deals, as it relates to athletes, leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, PGA, EPL, etc.), Olympics and related national governing. Own, develop, and manage a core strategy for Under Armour’s overall sports marketing business.
Drive the strategy such that it is monetized and UA achieves increased financial value from each strategic relationship, and compliments the overall sport category focus for the Brand.
Own and manage the sports marketing budget to support key initiatives in a manner that will maximize the growth of the brand, globally.
Proactively partner with internal executives and key stakeholders in Brand, Creative, Category Leadership, Sales, International, Connected Fitness, and Product to develop and implement the global sports marketing strategy.
Build long-term sports marketing strategy and athlete asset roadmap by category and region to enable UA’s growth plans
Drive global asset portfolio effectiveness and efficiency, by setting up a clear measurement process to assess return on investment, and identifying portfolio refinements and activation plan changes based on that
Secure strategic fit of and cross-functional commitment to any new asset acquisitions and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to build effective asset activation plans
Build regional guidelines for relationship management and service levels to drive contract effectivity
Facilitate global sports marketing committee and collaborate cross-functionally with global and regional peers to achieve the above
Required Skills
BS degree in Marketing, Business Administration, General Management, or equivalent
MBA or JD a plus
Established relationships at all levels, inclusive of the executive level, in the sports marketing industry.
Prior experience working for a global company with a strong, premium brand and a distinct culture.
Experience working for either a startup or a high-growth organization is a plus.
Experience conducting business and partnering with executives and staff in multiple regions globally, a plus.
A reputation for outstanding leadership, team building and recruiting. Proven ability to attract top talent from outside the organization, while developing strong teams within.
An ability to lead through influence by forming productive relationships cross-functionally with our leadership team.
Significant executive presence, confidence and preparedness to be able to meet and negotiate with the highest level of sports executives and athletes in the world.
Excellent presentation skills, inclusive of written and oral communications.
Strong quantitative skill set, numbers-driven, works well with data
