As the Director of Experiential Marketing & Partnerships focused on Premium Card Products and their partners, you are a business leader, shaping the future of American Express’ industry-leading role in experiential marketing and partnerships. From identifying trends/opportunities in the marketplace, to leading the strategy and planning with business partners, to overseeing and executing partner activations while managing a roster of agency partners, this leader must be keenly focused on driving results (growing scaled engagement among Card Members, delivering differentiated experiences for Card Members & attracting a new generation of members to the respective brands). You work with a large cross-functional team across GABM (Advertising, Media, Social Media, etc.), the Blue Box (Global Consumer Services, Global Benefits and Corporate Communications), external agencies and industry partners. The role enables you to lead a team, build and maintain internal and external relationships, lead best-in-class activations, and evolve our strategy to align with business objectives and drive unique value to priority Card Products and partners.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Vice President of Experiential Marketing & Partnership to create a metrics driven and differentiated experiential marketing plan for Premium Cards portfolio, its benefits and partners
Lead an internal team including Senior Manager of Experiential Marketing & Partnerships and various contractor roles
Liaise between Experiential Marketing & Partnerships team and internal leaders across Global Advertising & Brand Management team and Consumer Products team
Lead activation planning and execution with a large cross-functional team across experiential, social media, communications, creative, PR, GCO and agency partners that support Premium Card products, benefits and partners
Manage relationships and strategy for the American Express Platinum Collective – a group of innovators and tastemakers from across key industries – including integration into events
Communicate/liaise across teams to ensure communication flow, guardrails are adhered to, issues are raised and resolved, results are tracked and plans optimized, and budgets are managed
Lead leadership presentations on all key activations to gather alignment, buy-in and support from leaders across the business
Oversee and communicate all post-event and partnership reporting; collaborate with product, media, social and PR teams to create comprehensive reports for leadership
10+ years of experience in partnership marketing and/or experiential marketing – experience in 360 integrated marketing and/or digital marketing is a plus
Experience managing teams and agencies with proven track record in partner management
Knowledge of the entertainment/fashion/music/dining/travel/wellness industries with a passion for pop culture
High degree of interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in small and large groups
Ability to work under pressure, within compressed timelines and balance multiple priorities while still maintaining an optimistic “team player” attitude
Strong communications, multitasking and organization skills
Strong presentation skills and executive presence
Ability to build and foster relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and be highly influential
