What You Will Do


As part of The North Face Global Marketing team, this position will be responsible for leading our long-term Sports Marketing Strategy including the management of our Global Athlete Team, our annual Expedition Planning Process and Sports Marketing Partnerships. You will also lead a team of energetic sports marketing associates at the brand in bringing this strategy to life. This is a key strategic role and the individual will be responsible for managing high profile marketing initiatives and delivering long-term global growth strategies for the brand.


How You Will Make A Difference

  • Works in partnership with the Senior Director of Global Brand Management and General Manager, Performance to execute our global sports marketing strategic direction and bring our mantra of Athlete Tested/Expedition Proven to life for our consumers.
  • Lead all aspects of The North Face Global Athlete Program based on the overall Sports Marketing and Brand strategy. Key responsibilities include athlete recruiting, negotiation of contracts, ongoing management, performance evaluations, mentoring and team progression.
  • Directs the annual Athlete Expedition Proposal and Approval process for the brand globally in support of our overall brand and product objectives.
  • Manages all aspects of The North Face sports partnership and sponsored event program. Works with internal cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. TNF Athletes, brand, account marketing, sales, digital, retail, sustainability, RDD and global counterparts on sports marketing team) to assure that the maximum impact of these partnerships and sponsored events are realized.
  • Manages and mentors a team of Sports Marketing Managers and Sports Marketing Coordinators in executing our strategic vision and platforms.
  • Develops relationships with product creative design and product management, retail and marketing teams to ensure positive strategic direction as a brand.


    Required Skills

    What You Bring

  • Years of Related Professional Experience: 10-15 years of experience in Marketing or related field.
  • Educational/Position Requirements: This role requires a BA or BS degree in Business, Marketing or related field of study.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast paced, high volume environment.
  • Prior sports marketing experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • A strategic orientation as well as a willingness to build administrative processes to drive day-to-day success.
  • Ability to successfully manage complex projects.
  • Proven skills in managing partners, including negotiating and managing contracts and fees within budget.
  • Strong presentation development skills (Powerpoint or Keynote) required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including meeting facilitation and formal presentations.
  • Proven ability to innovate and foster innovation in others.
  • Drive for operational results including budgets, timelines and efficiencies.
