MDE Tennis is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, analytical and hands-on Partnerships Manager.


This position plays a very pivotal role in the success of the Citi Open, Washington’s Summer Tennis Tradition. The selected candidate will provide management and coordination of the Tournament’s Partnership program through client management, asset management, development of activation plan for partners, as well as conducting ongoing research to identify potential brands for partnership. This position reports directly to the Tournament Director and the Director of Partnerships. This is a full-time position based in Arlington, VA.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, national and worldwide corporate partners as well as serve as the primary internal and external contact;
  • Responsible for creating and executing customized partnership programs and promotional campaigns utilizing all Event assets;
  • Prepare, analyze and present sales decks to support the efforts to secure potential partners in coordination with Tournament Owner, Tournament Director, Partnerships Agency, USTA, ATP, WTA and outside sales agencies;
  • Create and manage asset documents (i.e. logo inclusions, hospitality benefits, signage, social media and digital components, PA announcements/video board messages, etc) and event recaps for current partners;
  • Responsible for the management of inventory and trafficking of commercial units for national broadcasts
  • Manage the production and placement of all partner on-site branding, in-stadium/court signage as well as vendor/merchandise booth locations;
  • Responsible for requesting and delivering the appropriate financial and insurance documents for internal review and Partners (i.e. invoices, W9 forms, additional insured certificates etc.);
  • Coordinate with Event Caterer/Concessionaire to execute all partnership activations related to ancillary events;
  • Draft partnership contracts to be reviewed by corporate attorney and deliver to Partners for execution;
  • Work with assigned ATP & WTA Staff members to execute player activities related to partner activation/ implementation of benefits;
  • Manage interns assigned to assist with the Partnerships Program;
  • Responsible for delivering Partner related content to Production Manager/Event Coordinator for the Event’s Run of Show and Daily Production schedules;
  • Providing any other services as reasonably requested in by MDE Tennis


    Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business, Marketing, or related field; Master’s degree in Sports Management/Marketing a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years sports sales & marketing experience
  • Demonstrate resolve and urgency to get things done timely, completely and accurately
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience using graphic design software (i.e., Photoshop) a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven client business development experience
  • Excellent written, oral and public presentation skills
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with company employees and outside accounts/vendors
  • Dynamic, highly motivated individual with a strong proactive attitude
  • Strong sense of responsibility, autonomy, motivation and team player
  • High level of integrity and ethics, ability to protect sensitive or confidential matters
