Facebook is seeking a Communications professional to help drive public relations for its sports business. The candidate should have experience working in sports and a strong interest in the intersection of media and technology. Knowledge of, and relationships with, sports business and consumer reporters is a must. This person will work closely with Facebook’s Sports Partnerships team to uncover and tell stories about how athletes, teams, leagues and media companies are using Facebook and its family of apps to deliver business results. He/she will also work with Facebook’s Partnerships executives to support strategic planning, messaging and speaking engagements. This role requires excellent written communications skills, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit and penchant for organization and cross-functional collaboration.


This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY.


COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE, SPORTS PARTNERSHIPS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive positive coverage in sports trade, consumer, and tech press around Facebook sports initiatives, including deal announcements and partner success stories.
  • Support public relations efforts around tentpole sports moments, spanning proactive storytelling and event management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and internal communications, to promote the Facebook Sports narrative.
  • Conceptualize and execute creative public relations campaigns with partners.
  • Manage executive speaking requests and engagements, including creating briefing documents, liaising with conference organizers, and maintaining a speaking calendar.
  • Build and cultivate consumer and industry media relationships.
  • Help manage external public relations agency.


    Required Skills


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field
  • 2+ years of public relations or journalism experience
  • Experience working in the sports industry
  • Experience with public figures, sports leagues, sports teams and sports media and reporters who cover this content
  • Experience creating a communications narrative
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working in a deadline driven environment


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience managing multiple deliverables
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and consensus building
