Housed within Citi’s Global Public Affairs’ Global Brand Team, and reporting to the Global Head of Sponsorships, this position plays a key leadership role in how Citi strategically evaluates, negotiates, activates and measures its sports sponsorships across the globe. This role will be focused collaborating with Citi colleagues and external partners across the globe, bringing Citi’s sponsorships to life in a meaningful way for the brand and business.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Engage with Citi Senior Leadership and colleagues as a Subject Matter Expert in sports sponsorship negotiation, activation and measurement
  • Maintain strong relationships with key sponsorship properties and contacts to ensure Citi is receiving and maximizing all benefits from the partnership. External partners include but are not limited to the PGA, City Football Group, Formula 1, NBA, etc.
  • Partner with internal and external partners/stakeholders to develop, sustain and manage communications strategies (positioning, creative strategies, communications planning, campaign platforms, taglines, etc.) for fully integrated Sponsorship activations.
  • Support the development of Citi’s newly implemented Sponsorship Governance Process specific to sports sponsorships, adhering to newly developed Third Party Management Exemption processes as well as Citi Expense Management Policies related to the restricted commodity of Sponsorship.
  • Create strong organizational connectivity and momentum through effective partnering and engagement to guide and align marketing and communications across the company.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify and address customer touchpoints where the brand can play a strong value creation role.
  • Lead the strategies and tactics for bringing Citi’s brand to life across the brand touchpoints we deliver.
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with internal and partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage external partner network to deliver against Citi requirements.


    Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field required; Masters preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years experience within the sponsorship, branding advertising, media, marketing, digital, social, and communications field required.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a sports and entertainment marketing team or function
  • Financial services and/or project/logistics management experience preferred.
  • Sponsorship negotiation and experiential marketing experience preferred.
  • “Team First” mentality with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, on budget and on time.
  • Strong presentation and communications (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills, including tact, diplomacy, and ability to influence senior-level executives and colleagues and navigate across a diverse and complex organization.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a heavily matrixed organization.
  • Strategic mindset to integrate business and brand strategy into all communications, along with innovative and forward-looking outlook.
  • Proven track record of success in delivering high quality work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
