Develops and manages a best-in-class sponsorship and signature event portfolio that aligns with the strategic objectives for Synovus. The focus of the programs and partnerships will be to support the business objectives of Synovus, and to reach the target audience in order to expand the impact and visibility of the organization. On an ongoing basis, collaborates with executive leadership, market leaders and line-of-business partners to optimize local, regional and national opportunities for corporate sponsorships and signature events. In addition, will manage programs across LOBs as assigned.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Explores key sponsorships and signature opportunities to develop a strong sponsorship and event portfolio focusing on targets defined by the lines of business, community banking, and corporate leaders.
  • Management of sponsorship portfolio - Manages all sponsorships and events (in-person and virtual) to the defined evaluation process of educate evaluate, develop recommendation and positioning, pitch sponsorship and gain feedback/consensus, negotiate to define agreed upon assets, execute all details of the sponsorship/event, and provide recap and success measures. Works in close coordination with Virtual Engagement Manager.
  • Serves as the lead and ensures proper communication and coordination on an ongoing basis of sponsorships and signature events to internal partners such as Business Development Coordinators, other departments within Marketing, Corporate Communications, Community Leadership, Retail Leadership, FMS Leadership and Executive Leadership.
  • Systematically tracks all sponsorships across the footprint, measures success over time through defined success metrics, determines which sponsorships need to either be removed from the portfolio, scaled up or scaled down.
  • Sponsorship and event evaluation and recommendation - Seeks and/or receives sponsorship opportunities (to include virtual engagement events and webinars) for consideration. Evaluates and prices the opportunity and develops a written Point of View (POV) to include sponsorship overview, pricing, sponsorship assets, target market demographics, pros and cons, insights and recommendation. POV is then presented to decision making groups for consideration.
  • Develops events that can be scaled across the entire footprint while focusing on ease of implementation by developing turn-key experiences for execution.
  • Serves as a key contributor in the annual planning and budgeting process for all Synovus sponsorships. Works collaboratively with Executive Management, Division CEO's, Market Presidents, Business Development Coordinators and line-of-business leaders to obtain consensus on implementation for strategic sponsorships and event plans.
  • Makes budget allocation recommendations to leadership based on the scope of the sponsorship and/or event. Recommendations are formally developed for Corporate sponsorship budget and Community Banking budget. Tracks sponsorship budget within Marketing Operations to ensure funds are properly allocated and utilized.
  • Supports programmatic business development & community development activities that can be scaled across markets.
  • Proactively communicates and coordinates across Marketing department to ensure local plans compliment and do not duplicate efforts awarded through sponsorships especially in the digital space.
  • Supports footprint wide local market requests, evaluation, and implementation by leveraging Workfront as intake solution tool. Provides self-service marketing solutions through the Company Store, the Marketing Store and other self-serve portals that support and drive business growth. Activities include training team members, auditing usage, inventory control, ensuring inventory is relevant based on the corporate and community needs.
  • Provides critical support during the event management process by creating and executing run of show schedules and evaluation recaps while providing ongoing communication to leadership. Will coordinate closely with Virtual Engagement Manager should event be virtual based.
  • Works with Synovus Creative Studio and/or external creative partners to review effectiveness of creative for existing and proposed sponsorships and signature events and makes revisions when necessary.
  • Provides additional support to Marketing Operations Team as needed to include, but not limited to, advertising placement, creative development, and coordination between multiple media & creative agency partners.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Each team member is responsible for process documentation within their functional area as it relates to their role in the marketing organization. Documentation should remain current and any updates should be submitted in conjunction with the Corporate Marketing Policy updates.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


    Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Journalism, Business Administration or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience


    Minimum Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional work experience in marketing, business development and sponsorship administration. Experience cultivating relationships, along with analyzing proposals will be given preference


    Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience planning, developing, executing, and managing marketing programs and campaigns
