As a Partnership and Events Manager, you will build and lead a best-in-class Partnerships & Events discipline which drives the strategic planning and execution of Partnerships and Events across prioritized E&J Gallo Business for both Luxury and Commercial brands. This influential subject matter expert provides strategic counsel and thought leadership to the organization and leads a team of SMEs in Partnership and Events, promoting cross-functional integration, brand marketing collaboration and ongoing talent development.
Location: this role has flexibility to work from Napa area (CA), New York City, or Modesto CA.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Builds a best-in-class Partnerships & Events practice from the ground up: designs enterprise-wide strategic approach to partnerships and events, effective and efficient ways of working and standardizes measurement & evaluation (M&E) for the discipline across brands.
Partners with Brand Marketing and Marketing Planning Teams to develop Partnership Marketing strategies for priority brands across Gallo’s portfolio – for consumer and trade.
Manages Event Marketing & Experiential agencies that activate events on behalf of Gallo as well as any communications agency in Gallo’s agency roster that proposes and executes a strategic partnership on behalf of Gallo and any of its brands.
Leads consumer and trade event marketing strategy and budget planning process with Brand Marketing and manages the Events team to ensure successful implementation.
Provides guidance to direct reports, cross-functional teams and agency partners to screen and assess all partnership and event opportunities to determine relevance, extent of exposure and financial implications.
Fosters key strategic relationships with 3rd parties and IP rights holders across the marketing spectrum and maintains a positive working relationship with targeted partners and stakeholders to generate positive association and unique strategic alliances on behalf of E&J Gallo and select priority brands within its portfolio.
Leads negotiation of all agreements that are forged between E&J Gallo and any strategic partnership, sponsorship and/or strategic alliance. Continually overdelivers on the acquisition of assets, access and IP rights associated with any contractual agreement that is procured on behalf of the company and its brands.
Consolidates information on all partnerships established across the Gallo portfolio and consistently identifies opportunities for potential partnerships that support Gallo’s business
Develops Measurement & Evaluation standards for all Gallo brands: current and emerging KPIs, benchmarking and dashboards, and provides strategic analysis of results to identify success and opportunities for improvement
Evaluates key learnings from partnership and event marketing efforts; provides thoughtful, comprehensive recaps and recommendations to Brand Marketing Teams and Leadership
Oversees and manages staff as well as any external agency, vendor and/or 3rd party supplier contributing towards the successful planning, implementation and evaluation of all events and partnership marketing efforts on behalf of E&J Gallo.
Delivers forward-thinking, best-in-class, discipline-specific thought leadership on both trade and consumer-facing events (virtual and in-person) and partnership marketing by successfully advancing and implementing emerging trends, industry standards, practice/discipline updates as well as operational enhancements.
Possesses an understanding of beverage compliance; ensures that planned events are compliant and company risk is at a minimum.
Partners with senior management to implement a successful vision/strategy, through strong leadership skills.
Develops or approves recommendations to change systems, policies, and procedures; ensures timely and accurate implementation
Participates in department and interdepartmental planning and management teams and works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.
Identifies and obtains staff resources and capabilities needed to accomplish objectives.
Ensures employee conformance to established best practices and proper training of staff.
Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of partnership marketing, virtual events, event/experiential marketing, public relations, or brand marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master’s degree plus 4 years of partnership marketing, virtual events, event/experiential marketing, public relations or brand marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR high school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of partnership marketing, virtual events, event/experiential marketing, public relations or brand marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
Managerial/supervisory experience to include experience building a discipline or department and/or managing and developing a team.
Excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to think end-to-end, manage long-term projects and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Experience making effective and persuasive presentations to marketing clients, management, public groups or boards of directors.
Required to travel up to 30% of the time to conduct job duties.
Required to work on weekends and occasional evenings.
Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
Required to stand and walk for long periods of time.
WHAT WILL SET YOU APART
Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of partnership marketing, event/experiential marketing, public relations or brand marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master’s degree plus 10 years of partnership marketing, event/experiential marketing, public relations, or brand marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility;
Experience working within strict budgets, negotiating with outside vendors, working with legal team members on contract negotiations, overseeing all areas of event execution.
