The marketing sponsorship and events manager is responsible for developing and managing corporate sponsorship and event opportunities for Flagstar Bank to support brand awareness and business unit growth goals. This includes developing the overall sponsorship strategy, identifying, evaluating and recommending sponsorship opportunities, overseeing the planning, execution and activation on corporate sponsorship investments and measuring the effectiveness of those sponsorships.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops, maintains, and manages the implementation of Flagstar’s sponsorship strategy, policy and procedures for sponsorships, business outreach events and employee events
  • Identifies and evaluates new sponsorship and event opportunities and responds appropriately to internal and external requests from multiple community organizations, event organizers, and event-related vendors on behalf of Flagstar. Manages regularly planned review meetings of opportunities with key Marketing stakeholders to review and approve sponsorship opportunities
  • Oversees the planning and execution of external and internal events/sponsorship including selection, creative development, event logistics, executive involvement, volunteer recruitment, vendor management and contest fulfillment. Communicates and coordinates with the appropriate vendors, key agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Engage key internal/external partners to identify PR and social media opportunities to bring additional visibility to sponsorship activity. Represent or ensure representation of Flagstar in media interviews. Coordinates creative and contracts with internal departments (Procurement, Legal, Compliance, Facilities, and Insurance) to ensure that all events comply with safety, legal, and compliance regulations in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that all events are tracking and within budget, evaluates sponsorship and event results, and communicates actionable learnings and insights.
  • Works with brand manager and growth leads to identify and coordinate PR and social media opportunities that are associated with sponsorships and events. Determines sales goals for each sponsorship and works with lines of business and external vendor to manage activation and lead generating activities to meet sales goals.
  • Coordinates with growth leads and lifecycle manager to develop and execute plans for sponsorship activation, including, but not limited to, lead capture follow-up.
  • Manages Flagstar Promotional Merchandise store, manages relationship with partner to ensure merch is updated to align with trends, cost competitive. Also partners with Marketing Growth leads to ensure business specific needs are appropriately represented in merchandise options
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Completes all required compliance training. Maintains knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar’s internal compliance policies and procedures. Takes responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.


    Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is strongly desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years in sales or marketing sponsorpship management position
  • Minimum 8 years of experience coordinating and/or managing all aspects of corporate events, sponsorships or project coordination.
  • Solid understanding of the bank’s compliance and retail banking structure.
  • Solid understanding of how events and sponsorships support an organization’s sales and marketing goals is most desirable.
  • Experience in managing promotional materials, managing merchandise providers.
  • Experience in understanding brand voice and design standards and how the brand should be reflected and positioned in sponsorship activities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, positive attitude, an awareness and desire to stay abreast of marketing trends, and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals including creative and executive level.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple teams (internal and external)
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously on time and on budget.
