This role’s primary focus is to support North American region’s team sports initiatives across all sport categories. Responsible for aligning with team sports athlete strategy and executing by identifying, evaluating, negotiating, activating and servicing the team sports athlete roster. Align and execute activation strategies for multiple assets in order to enrich the connection between our athletes and The Brand and ultimately grow consideration & influence the focused performer.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Build and manage the UA athlete scouting network
Under the Brand Marketing umbrellas, assist N.A region and Global Brand with executing activation strategies that align with the category’s goals and initiatives
Excellent servicing of all team sport athletes on the roster with an emphasis on our Tier 1 athletes; be the service lead on-site at all activations involving our athletes.
Advise UA Sports Marketing leadership on all scouting, recruiting, athlete agency management and player programs. This includes college prospect analysis and evaluation, Professional Draft and player free agency
Ensure promo budgets and player payments are being monitored and executed in a timely fashion in conjunction with the FP&A team
Work cross-functionally with team sports category product team to ensure compliance and delivery for all athlete on-court/on-field footwear and apparel. In addition, work closely to execute a seeding strategy puts products on our athletes that our Brand will tell stories about.
Foster brand-beneficial relationships with elite clubs, programs, high schools, colleges, professional league front offices, international clubs, agents and players throughout the United States and world. Help sign and lead transition of newly signed UA athletes through the draft and into their rookie year
Knowledge of the grassroots team sports space and adjacent levels of the sport
Relationships within the basketball, baseball and football space beneficial to the brand
Strong communication skills
Strong understanding of the sport and marketing space
Ability to understand needs and key stakeholders in the space
Solid understanding of social media trends, analytics and digital media landscape
Understands brand functions, goals and objectives
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Education And / Or Experience
Bachelor’s degree – In sports related works, communications, business management
5+ years managing various team sports events and appearances
7+ years in sports field or related area of related marketing
Multiple years experience in strategic planning and execution within the space of grassroots basketball, baseball and football
Experience in managing teams of cross functional personnel executing against grassroots strategy and events
Experience in scouting and managing professional players/coaches at the amateur level
Experience in assisting in executing budgets for events
Experience in working with the NCAA and expert knowledge of amateur and collegiate rules
