David Ferrer Ern is a Spanish professional tennis player who lives in Valencia, Spain, and who is World No. 5 in the ATP Rankings, the second-highest ranked Spaniard behind World No. 4 Rafael Nadal. He turned professional in 2000. Known early in his career as a clay-court specialist, Ferrer has shed that label by reaching the semifinals of 2007 US Open, 2011 Australian Open and 2012 US Open. However, he was won half of his titles on clay and also reached the semifinals at the 2012 French Open. He was part of the Spain Davis Cup team that won the finals in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
