In 2011, firefighters acquired Rescue 4 and Rescue 5 from the City of New York, when they were going to be scrapped, for the purpose of creating the REMEMBRANCE RESCUE PROJECT. The Project involving former FDNY Rescue 4 and Rescue 5 is an educational, non-for-profit effort focused at society, especially youngsters who were too young to actually understand what that day means to all of us.
The Rescues are an important part of American history and great tools to allow people to remember, honor and learn from, in addition to supporting children of fallen firefighters. We know from experience that the Project's presence is an unique marketing/PR tool and we welcome any opportunities. The project is operated by volunteers with the assistance from host fire departments throughout the country to coordinate educational sessions about 9/11 for local schools, community events and memorials.
