ShopRite Supermarkets is a retailers' cooperative chain of supermarkets in the northeastern United States, with stores in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Based in Keasbey, New Jersey, ShopRite consists of 47 individually owned-and-operated affiliates with more than 230 stores, all under its corporate and distribution arm, Wakefern Food Corporation. Wakefern itself owns and operates 30 of the locations through subsidiary ShopRite Supermarkets, and is the largest affiliate in the cooperative.
The Partnership for a Healthier America is a nonprofit created in conjunction with - but separate from - First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative to combat childhood obesity. PHA works with the public, private and nonprofit sector to broker commitments and develop strategies to address the epidemic. Obama serves as PHA's honorary chair, alongside honorary vice-chairmen former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and Mayor Cory Booker of Newark, New Jersey.
