Bank Signs $7.9 Million Marathon Renewal

Standard Chartered Bank has renewed title sponsorship of the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore for $7.9 million over a three-year partnership that will run through 2013. 2011 will be the second running of the the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore, which attracted 60,000 participants in its first year.


“After a very successful inaugural SCMS in 2010, we are delighted to announce our continued support for the event as title sponsor," Ray Ferguson, Regional Chief Executive Officer (Singapore and Southeast Asia) Standard Chartered Bank said. "The marathon has been a great platform for engaging all our stakeholders, and it resonates with what we stand for as an organisation – courage, a ‘can-do’ attitude, partnership, leading by example and the determination to ‘go the distance’. We want to be involved in the growth of the race and help develop this marathon as Asia’s pinnacle race together with our partner and event organiser, Singapore Sports Council.”

The renewal reaffirms the bank's strategic commitment to the sport of running. Between September and June, Standard Chartered sponsors nine different major marathons throughout the APAC and Middle East including Jersey, Nairobi, Bangkok, Singapore, Dubai, Mumbai, Hong Kong, the Falkland Islands and Kuala Lumpur.
