Banned Basketball Shoe Gets in the Game with New Sponsorship Deal
Despite being famously banned by the NBA last Fall for providing 'undue competitive advantage,' Athletic Propulsion Labs through a new sponsorship deal, says they've found a way to showcase their new spring-based shoe products at NBA and college basketball games. The LA-based company has sponsored Team Flight Brothers, which will showcase their products during halftime dunk exhibitions. Whereas most of the shoemaker's competitors can be seen during the game, it's an interesting roundabout way to get visibility at games after having its product banned by the league, a move that turned out to be a PR homerun for the company.
Athletic Propulsion calls Team Flight Brothers "the world's best dunkers," and says it will be the official team to wear the APL basketball shoes with the patent-pending Load 'N Launch technology. The controversial shoe, they say, can instantly increase vertical leap up to 3.5 inches. The team will wear APL shoes in all of their dunk exhibitions starting immediately.
