Check Out The Team That's Using Its Brand To Build A Billion Dollar Island Resort
With an eye towards strengthening its ties to the Middle East ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, one of the world's most famous soccer teams has announced plans to build a massive resort and theme park in the United Arab Emirates using the team brand. One billion dollars has been invested in the Real Madrid resort project and it is expected to open in January 2015 in what team officials say will be the first theme park on an artificial island to combine tourism and sports.
"This is a decisive and strategic step that will enhance the strength of this institution in the Middle East and Asia, a key region in which the passion for this club has been apparent," Team President Florentino Perez said. "Our collaboration grows increasingly stronger and we are proud of it. Real Madrid and the Government of Ras Al Khaimah want to transmit the passion of Real Madrid and what it means throughout the world."
