Cruise Line Sponsors Free NYC Wi-Fi For Breakaway Campaign
Norwegian Cruise Line today announced that the cruise line is sponsoring free Wi-Fi access at select New York subway stations and John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International Airports during the month of February, in a move to support the line’s newest ship, Norwegian Breakaway. You may recall if you follow SponsorPitch Tips that a helpful SponsorPitch tipster clue'd Norwegian followers into the cruise line's growing interest in NYC partnership opportunities back in December.
As part of the cruise line's new partnership with Boingo, complimentary Wi-Fi is now available for users of all Wi-Fi enabled devices at Manhattan subway stations supported by Transit Wireless’ state-of-the-art network, and for laptop users at the New York airports, courtesy of Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship, Norwegian Breakaway. The 4,000-passenger ship will bring the best of NYC to sea, and will be the largest cruise ship ever to homeport year-round in New York City. The ship will feature New York-themed entertainment, including three Broadway shows, restaurants from Geoffrey Zakarian and fitness classes from the Rockettes.
“The airports and subways are such iconic centers of activity for New Yorkers that sponsoring Wi-Fi in those venues seemed a natural extension to our New York City-inspired campaign for Norwegian Breakaway,” said Maria Miller, senior vice president of marketing for Norwegian Cruise Line. “Boingo’s ability to provide an effective tool for engaging with potential guests fits in nicely with our goals, and we’re excited to offer this service free of charge to New Yorkers.”
“We specialize in delivering high engagement opportunities for leading advertisers in premier locations, while providing consumers with the Wi-Fi they crave,” said Dawn Callahan, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Boingo Wireless. “Boingo’s Cloud Nine media platform is uniquely positioned to reach on-the-go, tech-savvy consumers – especially those in New York who might be very much in need of a rejuvenating cruise.”
The sponsored Wi-Fi hotspots are part of Boingo’s Cloud Nine location-based media platform, which reaches more than 100 million consumers annually across the company’s global portfolio of owned and operated hotspots, as well as thousands of partner hotspots.
