Deutsche Bank setzt Partnerschaft mit den Berliner Philharmonikern
Only a week after Credit Suiss re-upped with the New York Philharmonic, Deutsche Bank has decided to extend its sponsorship agreement with the Berliner Philharmoniker by another five years, until 2015. The Frankfurt-based I-Bank has been the exclusive sponsor of the Berliner Philharmoniker since 2002.
"We are pleased to continue our partnership with this outstanding orchestra," Dr. Josef Ackermann, Chairman of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank, said. "The Berliner Philharmoniker and Deutsche Bank fit very well together: Both partners are known around the world for their passion and top quality performance"
In activation of the sponsorship, Deutsche Bank made possible the 2009 launch of the Digital Concert Hall, an initiative that makes the philharmonic's concerts available around the globe at any time via the Internet.
The educational program Zukunft@BPhil has been another staple of the relationships, stretching back to 2002. It introduces girls and boys with diverse cultural backgrounds to classical music. Since its inception, more than 16,000 children have work on their own pieces and present them in public performances.
As part of the deal, Deutsche Bank will continue to support the Berliner Philharmoniker on their concert tours in Germany and abroad and maintain presenting support of the premier concert in Berlin at the start of every concert season.

The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, which is also funded by the city of Berlin, was founded in Berlin in 1882, and has been consistently ranked as one of the top orchestras in the world.
