Fan Blames Modell's Signage For Robbing Mets Of HR's

Among the interesting new applications of the Twitter phenomenon, is the ability for sports fans to talk directly to sponsorship decision makers. Why heckle the players, like everyone else, when you can go straight to the sponsors.

This past weekend, MLB.com columnist Marty Nobile suggested that the Mets remodel the Mo Zone that hovers over Citi Field's right field wall to make it easier for Mets third baseman and power-hitter, David Wright, to hit HR's. Noble writes:

The club isn't about to turn away from the advertising revenue the Mo Zone generates in right. Its less-than-stuffed pockets need all available pennies. But the Mets ought to eliminate, adjust or move the Zone and make life easier for their best player and most recognizable face.

On Tuesday, Modell's SVP of Marketing Jed Berger took his response to Twitter. Check out the dialogue below with a Mets fan, after the fan tweeted "Stupid Modells Zone denies #Mets back-to-back-to-back HRs."



Judging from the Mets start, this may not be the last time you hear the words don't blame us, but it's pretty cool when a marketing boss takes time to talk signage with fans.
