Hertz Embeds NeverLost Navigation Into Cycling Race

Cyclists in the 2011 Race Across America won't have to worry about getting lost. Navigation Solutions has announced Hertz NeverLost is the official Navigation Sponsor for the 3,000 mile bicycle ride across the United States, starting June 14th in Oceanside, California.


Hertz NeverLost will allow RAAM crew and fans to follow their favorite cyclists along the RAAM route, while the cyclists themselves will use the RAAM Online Trip Planning website, to download the RAAM trip from NeverLost’s website, where they can be saved to a USB drive for inserting into a rented Hertz NeverLost Gen5 GPS unit on Hertz cars during the race period.

Created with the event in mind, NeverLost’s RAAM site will help teams and guests find restaurants along the routes 55 different Time Stations, get weather updates, and send updates to wireless devices. For RAAM’s international competitors and crew, NeverLost devices will provide voice prompts in 10 languages.

NeverLost’s sponsorship and special trip planning services will extend to the other summer 2011 RAAM competitions in Oregon, Minnesota, and Northern California. RAAM trip routes and Time Stations will be available for these races at www.neverlost.com.

Introduced in 1997, the Hertz NeverLost system was the car rental industry's first in-car navigation system. NeverLost units provide turn-by-turn audio and visual driving directions to destinations in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
