Nintendo Goes On Music Tour To Promote Glass-less 3D Device

Nintendo is turning to a major music tour in an effort to build buzz around its new glass-less portable 3D product. The brand has signed on as one of four leading sponsors for the annual Vans Warped Tour, which will bring a lineup of live music and lifestyle products to over 40 cities throughout the U.S. this summer. Through August 14th, attendees at every stop along the tour will be able to visit interactive Nintendo demo areas and experience the hand-held Nintendo 3DS system, which offers a wide variety of games and portable entertainment options that can be viewed in 3D without the need for special glasses.

In addition to checking out musical acts, fans will be able to visit a special Nintendo tent equipped with playable Nintendo 3DS systems and software. Attendees who bring their own Nintendo 3DS systems can use them to exchange Mii characters with other tour-goers using the built-in StreetPass feature.

Since launching in March, the 3DS, which offers the first glass-less 3D experience in gaming, has received largely positive reviews with the only exception being some who have questioned the product's relatively steep $250 price point.

The tour's other main sponsors are Vans, Monster Energy and Kia.
