Plumbing Company Finds Perfect Fit With Urinetown Partnership

Think your job is tough selling sponsorship? Try pitching a musical named Urinetown. Even with all the Tony Awards, it's not exactly an easy sell to the upscale brands that normally sponsor shows. So Kansas City's the Theatre in the Park turned to the next best and most logical prospect -- a local plumbing company -- and ended up landing a unique title sponsorship for its July run of the show.

While other theatres probably wouldn't be too excited about the prospect of an inflatable toilet sitting outside their venue, the theatre will be making an exception in this case. According to a release, Bob Hamilton Plumbing + Heating + A/C + Rooter will supply "its larger than life inflatable toilet" to display on-site during the entire run of the show. The company will also be using the sponsorship to benefit their longtime non-profit partner, Giving the Basics, by asking theatre-goers to bring a 4-pack of toilet paper to the show.

“This is a match made in heaven,” said Bob Hamilton, owner. “When or where else can a plumbing company sponsor a musical about bathrooms and give back to the community rolls of toilet paper? When I found out about the opportunity I almost pee’d my pants.”
