This Brand Is Prepping For Tax Season With Three Different Bowl Deals

While you might think that tax season is in April, one tax prep business is getting an early jump by sponsoring three different bowls this holiday season. Back in September, it signed deals with Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, the BBVA Compass Bowl and Gator Bowl. College Students and Young Adults seeking affordable and reliable tax preparation services are the target audience for these deals, which provide a head start on the competition.

"College Sports are the right fit for us to grow our brand and let Americans know that they have a resource with over 40 years of experience in the tax preparation business. Being involved with College Football directly connects us with our core consumers, young adults and fans all over the country that enjoy one of America's favorite family activities, College Football. And being involved with the Bowl Games puts us in front of this very important audience at the right time and place- right before tax season!" said Darcel Walker, Director of Growth, TaxSlayer.com.

While these sponsorships offer a chance to get in the minds of consumers prior to the point of need, they also put the company at risk of being diluted by the barrage of other advertising that takes place around the holidays. That's probably why TaxSlayer is supplementing these deals with other year-round sponsorships.

Outside of college sports, the company recently extended a partnership with JR Motorsports, which will see it take part in 14 NASCAR Nationwide Series races in 2012. The brand, while still an underdog among tax prep giants like H&R Block's TaxCut and Intuit's TurboTax, is making an aggressive play with sports partnerships.
